Early Years (Reception)
Mrs Hayward's Class
The children have settled so well into our class and we are extremely proud of how independent they are all becoming so quickly. This term we have been getting to know our new friends and have been exploring our new environment together. We have been working on child initiated activities and within guided groups and access a well balanced curriculum which includes activities from all seven areas of learning.
Within literacy we have been learning to write our names and have been involved in lots of other mark making activities. We access a phonics session every day and apply the skills we learn in a guided literacy task and during our child initiated time. We enjoy daily story sessions and like to look at our own books during child initiated time.
Within maths we access a mastery curriculum and we have been currently working on recognising numerals, counting objects with one to one correspondence and representing numbers using the correct amount of objects. We have also been writing numbers and applying our skills during guided group work and during continuous provision.
Miss Maxfield's Class
Welcome to Miss Maxfield’s Reception Class (REM) page. We have had a great start to the year and the children have all settled well. In REM we welcome any opportunity to embrace any form of new learning opportunities – something which occurs in both our guided group sessions and throughout continuous provision. We strive to challenge ourselves each day to be the best learners that we can be.
By embracing the children’s curiosity, we have already explored a variety of topics, ranging from, All about me to Twinkle Twinkle where we focused on lots of rhyming.
Our remaining topics for the year include;
It set to be an exciting year, I can’t wait to see the children’s work as they grow and learn as we progress throughout the year.
If you have any question please come and ask a member of the team.
